On the afternoon of August 24, under the guidance of the Research Committee for History of Journalism and Communication Education under the Chinese Association for History of Journalism and Mass Communication (CAHJC), the “Forum of Deans on Scientific Literacy and Journalism and Communication Education” co-sponsored by the School of Journalism and Communication of Shandong University and the School of Cultural Studies and Journalism of Shandong University, Weihai, was held at the Academic Exchange Center of Weihai Campus of Shandong University, which can be taken as one of the diverse academic activities for the first-class discipline construction of “Media Science” in Shandong University.
The forum was divided into two periods, presided over respectively by Professor Liu Mingyang, Executive Associate Dean of School of Journalism and Communication of Shandong University, and Professor Deng Shaogen of School of Journalism and Communication of Renmin University of China. And numerous deans of Schools of Journalism and Communication coming from nearly 30 universities in China have attended the forum and participated in the discussion. All guests have exchanged their views on such issues as the current situation of journalism and communication education in China, the relationship between scientific literacy and journalism education, the reform of teaching methods, the integrative development of disciplines and the construction of new liberal arts.
